There was a time in Kannada film industry when the other film industries including Bollywood turned towards us, the golden era we can call. But soon the filmmakers were bit with bug of commercialising the films and somewhere we saw the decline in the quality of content. I don’t say that “no” good films were made, but the number gradually decreased.
But luckily from the last half a decade or so, we saw a drastic change in the quality and a hunger for content films. By: Sharath Byloli
Rangitaranga, Godi Banna Sadarana Mykattu, Ulidavaru Kandanthe, U-Turn are a few of the many examples we have today and these type of films are changing the way we see the Kannada film industry.
Here are a few such upcoming films that will change the way we see Sandalwood !
1. Avane Srimannarayana
The film staring Rakshith Shetty, Directed by a newbie Sachin and is written by the kirik party fame Rakshith Shetty and the seven odds is surely going to bring a new wave the kannada film industry and the teaser they released is itself the proof for that.
2. KGF
The film staring Rocking star Yash and directed by Ugram fame Prashanth Neel is also a masterpiece in making and apparently it has become the most awaited movie of the decade.
3. 777 Charlie

Again the film staring Rakshith Shetty and directed by a newbie Kiran Raj is also a most awaited movie and using Dog as one of the main character is something unique in this film.
4. Kurukshetra
Darshan Toogudeepa’s 50th film and it has to be a block buster in making and the wide range of its star cast and production team proves it to be true.
5. Katha Sangama
A Rishab Shetty’s vision and a tribute to the legendary director Puttannakangal, is film with four different stories directed by new directors. This experiment was done before in the industry by Puttanna sir himself.
6. Kavalu Daari
The second film from Hemanth Roa and all eyes are on him after giving a classic like Godi Banna Sadarana Mykattu and the special aspect is Puneeth Rajkumar is producing this film.
7. Thugs of Malgudi
Still on paper but still one of the most awaited film, to be stared by kiccha Sudeep and directed by Rakshith Shetty. With many projects under its way we don’t know when Rakshith will get time to get back to Directing venture, but the Ulidavru Kandanthe fans are still waiting for one more masterpiece like that.
These are the few films that may change the way we see the kannada film industry, the interesting fact is that 4 out of 7 films mentioned here are from the same banner, something the other filmmakers have to bother about!!!
